It's been "And Just Like That ..." season around the streets of Manhattan as the stars of the "Sex and the City" revival Kirstin Davis, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Cynthia Nixon have been spotted filming scenes for the upcoming season three of the show.

In an interview with Variety, Nixon (who pulls double duty, also starring in HBO Max's "Gilded Age") opened up about the critical reception of "AJLT's" last season, the controversial Che Diaz character, and how playing the character of Miranda has rubbed off on her real life.

"I've grown much more like [Miranda] as I've grown older, and she's grown much more like me," said the 58-year-old Nixon, explaining that she didn't advocate for her character to be more like her. "But smart writers, particularly on long-term projects that keep going and evolving, try [to] put as much of the real person in that character as they can, because that's one of the things that makes television or film or theater so powerful – when the person playing the role has a personal connection."

Which leads us to wonder why Che Diaz, portrayed by Sara Ramirez, won't be back for the next season.

According to Nixon, the character served their purpose.

"They created such an amazing character – such a controversial character, but such an amazing character," she said. "I think they felt, and Michael Patrick felt, that that character had run its course. They came in and shook everything up, and then the arc was completed."

Oh, we were absolutely shook, and Nixon explained that people are as passionate about the show as ever.

Addressing the critics of "And Just Like That ..." she shared: "I think that's what's so great about 'And Just Like That.' We keep pushing the boundaries. We're not going to do the same old stuff that was once shocking that you've now got used to."

Time will tell if there will be another shock appearance by Kim Cattrall to boost the next season's ratings.
