The Red Party Celebrates Culmination of Cycle for the Cause AIDS Ride

The annual Cycle for the Cause AIDS charity bike ride from Boston to New York City kicks off on September 14 in Boston. Cyclists will cover 275 miles before rolling into New York City on September 17 for The Red Party, the big block party outside of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center of New York on West 13th Street.
Cycle for the Cause is a 275-mile charity bike ride for people living with HIV/AIDS that starts in Boston and passes through 20 cities, making overnight stops in Framingham, MA; Mashantucket, CT and Danbury, CT before finishing in New York City. So far, the event has raised more than $10M for HIV/AIDS services.
The Red Party is the culmination of the ride, where The Center closes off its section of West 13th Street for a celebratory block party. Hundreds of community members, friends, and family will gather to cheer on our heroes as they return from their long journey. Guests can enjoy food, drinks, and other fun activities at this free event, in honor of all those who continue the fight to end AIDS.
Since their founding in 1983, The Center has been committed to ending the epidemic by providing HIV/AIDS services and support to our community, which has been profoundly affected by AIDS.
More than one million people in the U.S. have HIV, and thousands more will die from AIDS-related complications this year alone. At The Center, they provide support for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS, 365 days a year.
The funds raised from Cycle for the Cause helps provide safer sex kits to thousands of youth and adults every year; HIV support groups; free HIV testing; HIV/AIDS education and prevention services for youth and young adults; referrals to public health insurance and housing options, as well as doctors who specialize in HIV/AIDS; and individual, couples, family and group counseling.
The Red Party will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, with riders set to arrive around 2:15 p.m. at The Center, 208 W. 13th Street, New York.
