Lucas Poggi Rolls Past His Limits
Timothy Rawles READ TIME: 15 MIN.
Lucas Poggi chose to pursue his dreams regardless of his physical limitations. But sometimes life offers up different aspirations, perhaps something you didn’t expect. For Lucas, it was modeling which given his good looks it seems like it was always written in the cards.
“Many think that disability is the end of everything when in reality, it is the other way around: it is the beginning of something better,” he wrote in 2021 for Orato .
Lucas was born with a condition called myelomeningocele; his spine was malformed in the womb. He says he doesn’t know what it feels like to walk so he doesn’t miss it. He still burns up the catwalk though. A quick Google search and you can see him looking good, working the runway.
In addition to fashion, Lucas is also an athlete, a swimmer who has participated in many competitions including the Paralympics in Rio and Tokyo.
When he was eight, Lucas used water as a form of physical therapy. It was an element he used to his advantage, and he’s been in it ever since.
We can’t decide what we find sexier, Lucas’ perseverance or his well-toned and tattooed body. Both can be true and that just makes him sexier. He gets added points for wanting to help others who might think their dreams will never come true.
“I will continue working to create awareness and visibility for those of us who have limited physical conditions,” he said.
