Did a Walmart Employee Tell a Couple to Leave Because They're Gay?

An Oklahoma man says a Walmart employee asked him and his boyfriend to leave the store because they are gay, according to the Express-Star, a daily newspaper for Chickasha, Okla.

According to Jonathan Pacheco, he and his boyfriend were shopping at a Walmart store in Chickasha, Okla., (about 44 miles south of Oklahoma City) when an employee asked him and his boyfriend questions about being gay before telling the couple to leave the store. Pacheco says the employee, allegedly a janitor, told the couple, "It is Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve," before giving them the boot.

"I just walked away," Pacheco said. "I wasn't looking for any kind of fight and we weren't acting inappropriately. I just wanted to buy some cookies."

According to the Express-Star, Pacheco said he spoke with two managers about the incident but nothing came of it.

"They didn't write anything down. They just kind of sent me away," he said. "I was so taken aback at what happened, I couldn't do anything but laugh all the way home."

Pacheco says he feels like "he can't go anywhere now."

A spokesperson for Walmart told the Express-Star officials are currently investigating the incident. But a representative for the mega company told the Huffington Post:

"This is clearly unacceptable to us and to our customers. The associate involved is no longer with the company."
